Before all the Christmas celebrations started the weather up in Auckland was beautiful and sunny. For the past 4-5 days, we’ve had the tail end of a tropical cyclone so it has been windy and very wet. We haven’t minded though as we really enjoy playing in grass ponds, which only form when there has been lots of rain.
Anyway the weather is not what we wanted to tell you about today…
Christmas Eve was a beautiful day and there was lots of excitement because Santa would be visiting that night. Our humans decided we should go for a nice long walk at one of our favourite parks, Waiatarua Wetland Reserve. Even though our humans take us for an hour walk everyday, they wanted us to be extra tired because that evening we were going to Marc’s parents house for a Christmas Eve Party! Woo Hoo! They wanted to make sure we would be very well-behaved and not have lots of pent-up energy. There was going to be lots of people and 3 other dogs there. Two of the other dogs were Cassie and Trixie, their humans are Marc’s parents and sister. Since it would also be beneficial for them to be tired and well-behaved they came along to the park too!! Yay, the more the merrier!!
So off we go to the Park, we all had a fabulous time!
We had a great time at Waiatarua and we were there for probably about 2hrs; playing with balls, sticks and other dogs! We also did lots of exploring in all the trees and bushes; Jasper especially had to see what other dogs had been to his favourite park since he was last there! When it was time to go home, we all happily got in the car and looked forward to being able to curl up and go to sleep on our beds…
BUT sadly that is not how this story ends
…
Because it was a nice hot sunny day and we were going to a party tonight with lots of people, Laura and Marc decided we needed a bath
*Humph* And not a bath with nice warm water, which would have been bad enough. A bath with horrid cold hose water!!!
It was NOT a good way to end our fun day at the park!! But don’t worry we made sure Laura and Marc knew we were not happy about this…
We got our pay back though, if they are going to give us a bath with a hose and say it was because it would cool us down then they also needed to be cooled down!
*Hah!*
There is one good thing though about having a bath and that is we get dried afterwards! We absolutely love getting dried with a towel; whenever one gets picked up we run towards it and dive our head in and push and rub up against what ever poor human is holding it. Once we are dry we get to play zoomies in the garden
As long as we don’t roll in the dirt *hehe* Zoomies is one of our favourite games!!
Hmmm…Now that we think about it horrible hose water wasn’t the last thing that happened, being dried and playing zoomies in the garden was, and that’s actually a pretty good way to end the day…

Hi. Nellie and Jasper here. Can you tell us how to play zoomies. It sounds like lots of fun. Is it like then you run around as fast as you can through mummy’s garden and she comes out and yells at you for squashing all her plants. Me and Nellie have lots of room to play games. My play lawn is bigger than mummy and daddy’s old section in Lower Hutt.
Hi Nellie and Jasper,
Yup Zoomies is where you run around all crazy like! Jasper has done it inside before, though he did put a hole in the wall… :S So outside is probably best :p
Licks and lots of slobber,
Lexi and Jasper the Danes
Hey Lexi and Jasper! I’m glad you got to go for such a lovely run around with your pals!
I don’t know what it is with humans and their obsession for cleanliness; I think its actually a kind of sickness in them. A sickness that luckily us doggies are immune to.
I don’t have to do zoomies after a bath because I’ve delegated that to Delta and she does them for me.
Your human does take the loveliest photos by the way!
your pal,
Digby
Hey Laura! The pictures are awesome
My Laura is going to get a new lense so she might be able to get better pictures of me especially when I’m running around! Could you tell us what lense you’re using ?
Anyway Lexi and Jasper, that looked like a great walk !!! You’re so lucky you’ve got so many friends to play with ! Loved the hose part, the pictures are very funny – especially Jasper’s face – priceless !
Talk soon,
Lincoln
Hi Lincoln,
Our humans our loving their new camera. We feel like sure models now having all these photo’s taken of us! *Hee Hee*
The lens they bought is a Nikon 18-200mm VR2. It was recommened to them by a friend and when they read the reviews it had lots of praise and comments on how good it was for photographing pet/animals
They would highly recommend it, they have been very happy with it!
Licks and lots of slobber,
Lexi and Jasper the Danes
Hi Lexi and Jasper! What a fun day you all had! Looks like you had a blast in that park. Great pictures! Great smiles! Sorry about that hose water. Yeah for being dried and zoomies!
Thor and Jack
What Sweet fun! Sasha doesn’t like the water either!
Please don’t mention the BATH word…..shhhhhhhh
Those are great pictures especially like the bath ones so clear and vivid…we have to get a good camera someday to take action shots like you do.

Wow – LOVE the new look of your blog and the new header picture!! In fact – all the photos are fantastic – did you get a new camera?? You must give me some tips coz I’m ashamed that I still use my Canon DSLR on automatic!!
So sorry we’re so late in visiting – we’ve fallen really behind with blog friends since our move and the Christmas break – really struggling to catch up now!
A belated Happy New Year!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Hi Honey,
We’re glad you like our blogs new look and all the photo’s!
Yup our humans got a new camera, a Nikon DSLR – but they got a specific lens that is supposed to be very good a taking photo’s of animals, they’ve been super happy with it.
Don’t worry they aren’t using any of the special setting :p They have only been using the preset action and portrait setting :p
Licks and lots of slobber,
Lexi and Jasper the Danes
